Frequently Asked Questions
Things we get asked a lot
Counselling provides a safe and confidential space to explore your thoughts, emotions and experiences with a trained professional. It can help you navigate challenges, gain new perspectives, strengthen coping strategies, and move toward healing and growth.
Yes. I support teenage girls as well as adult women.
Every young person is different, so consent requirements depend on factors such as age, maturity, and individual circumstances. Before counselling begins, I’ll discuss consent, confidentiality, and any parent involvement so everyone understands what to expect.
Counselling works best when young people feel safe to talk openly. While sessions are generally confidential, there are some situations where information may need to be shared to protect someone’s safety or where required by law. These limits will always be explained clearly at the outset.
Friends can provide valuable support, but counselling offers a dedicated space focused entirely on you. A counsellor brings professional training, objectivity, and evidence-informed approaches to help you work through challenges in a supportive and structured way.
You can bring whatever is important to you. Common topics include:
Anxiety and stress
Burnout and overwhelm
Grief and loss
Life transitions
Relationships
Identity and self-worth
Personal growth
Purpose and direction
Faith and spirituality (if desired)
Not at all.
Many people seek counselling because they want support, clarity, personal growth, or a space to process life's challenges before they become overwhelming.
Crowned Care is faith-informed and grounded in Christian values of compassion, dignity, hope and restoration.
Faith can be incorporated into sessions if desired, but clients are always free to determine the role faith plays in their counselling experience.
No.
Women and girls from all backgrounds, beliefs and life experiences are welcome.
The first sessions is an opportunity to share your story, discuss what has brought you to counselling, and explore your goals for support. There is no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable sharing.
Every person's journey is different.
Some will benefit from a few sessions focused on a specific issue, while others prefer ongoing support over a longer period. We can discuss what feels right for your circumstances and goals.
Confidentiality is a core part of counselling. Information shared during sessions will remain private except where disclosure is required by law or where there are serious concerns about safety.
Full details will be discussed before counselling begins.
